Hijra Celebration
& March Past

Marking the Islamic New Year with awareness, unity, and a grand march past that brings together Muslim organisations across the nation.

About the Event

The Hijra Celebration

Every year, NACOMYO EGBA Division organises a grand Hijra Celebration to mark the Islamic New Year (1st Muharram). The event draws participation from organisations across Ogun State and distinguished guests from across Nigeria.

The celebration features an Hijra Calendar Awareness programme — educating communities on the significance of the Islamic lunar calendar — and culminates in a spectacular March Past through the streets of Abeokuta, featuring contingents from affiliated Islamic organisations competing for honours.

Winners of the March Past are awarded prestigious prizes, trophies, and cash in a dignified ceremony attended by Muslim leaders, scholars, and philanthropists from across Nigeria.
